Cracked Dry Skin

Cracked Skin or Fissures can be moist or dry cracks that appear in your skin. They always appear in areas of your foot where the skin is under tension. Moist cracks usually occur in between your toes and dry cracks often appear in the sides of your heels. Some health conditions which affect the quality of your skin can make the fissures worse. These include: vascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, sclerosis, dermatitis, psoriasis amd athletes foot.

Treatment involves identifying the cause of the fissures and then improving the strength of the skin on your feet. It is important to have the cause identified by a professional such as a Foot Health Practitioner, Chiropodist or Podiatrist. They can treat the allegen accordingly as management will be dependent on the underlying issue. For example, athletes foot would be treated with an antufungal cream, dry skin with emollients and overly sweaty skin with a antiperspirant.
